VVIS International School in the Western Algarve provides an education that is based upon the individual needs and high aspirations of the international community. The school has been serving the educational needs of secondary schooling for a number of years and now, due to a growing demand, is able to offer the following courses:

PRIMARY SCHOOL

In the primary bilingual section, the curriculum framework document makes provision for all key subjects to be taught as per the British National Curriculum while offering subjects such as Arts and Crafts, Design Technology and Music in Portuguese. This allows children from diverse international backgrounds to fully integrate into the host community by learning more about the language, culture and tradition of the Portuguese. On the other hand, Portuguese parents who are interested in their children becoming fluent in English are placing their childern at VVIS in order for their children to be taught in an international context.

A Tutor teacher for each class, supported by specialist teachers, provide teaching in various subjects. This framework includes courses that are stimulating for both students and teachers in a bilingual environment. The knowledge and skills developed during the primary years ensure a smooth transition from primary to secondary schooling, including those students whose first language is not English, progressing to the International General Cambridge Secondary Education qualification. It is anticipated that all pupils who have been following the Bilingual Programme since primary years will have the necessary confidence and skills to participate in the international programme.

SECONDARY SCHOOL

At secondary level, the school has been achieving a 100% pass rate for all IGCSE subjects entered since opening in 2002. The school boasts a team of specialist teachers, all highly qualified and experienced in their respective fields.

Since 2006, VVIS International School in the Algarve has been offering subjects for Advanced (AS and A2 levels) according to the International Cambridge Examinations. Because of small class sizes, students receive individual attention.
