About Us
After the acquisition of a property suitable for the conversion of a school in 1997, the De Beer family developed the idea to fruition. In 2002, Vale Verde International School was founded following years of investment required to bring the buildings in line with Ministry of Education requirements. The school is guided to this day by its consultant - former European Council of International Schools Board Member, David Steyn OBE. In 2007 the school Director obtained a MA in International Education, following the submission of a research document that investigated bilingual aspects of education. The pilot project conducted in 2008 formed Portugal’s first bilingual primary school, the success of which was well received by a cross section of the local and international schooling community. To absorb the demand and further expand the school, VVIS was awarded a license to build two new wings to the school which will include three extra classrooms, two ablution blocks and a kitchen. The construction work is due to be completed by January 2010 and is well under way.
